WHAT'S HAPPENING

Peoria Heights Fire Department’s 100th Anniversary Celebration!

In honor of its 100th anniversary, the Peoria Heights Fire Department will hold a celebration at the Peoria Heights Village Hall & Fire Station on July 15 starting at 10a.m.

The event will begin with a fire truck parade at 10 a.m. from Lake Avenue and up Prospect to the Village Hall & Fire Station.  At 11:30 a.m. will be a proclamation and recognition presentation. From noon to 4p.m., there will be a firefighter water battle at the Fire Station consisting of teams of three firefighters. The teams will use fire hoses to push a barrel along an elevated wire to their opponent’s side. The event is not only fun to watch, but it also showcases the firefighters’ real-world skills (and gives the winning team some much deserved bragging rights). From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., 5 Guys Named Moe will be performing at Tower Park Plaza to conclude the event. Don’t forget to bring your chairs!

Along with the festivities, visitors can tour the fire station, view antique fire trucks on display and enjoy food vendors, drinks, beer tent and various games. Bring the family out and help the Peoria Heights Fire Department celebrate 100 years of serving the Village of Peoria Heights!
